Latest at Rosegate…

Wow, it has been a busy few months on the farm with all the young animals to look after, hay-making for winter feed, sheep shearing etc.

In the butchery we have had a rearrange allowing us to keep supplying you with meat during the Covid lockdown, during which we have seen a surge in demand helped along by a few hot BBQ weekends.

Butchery opening hours continue to be:

  • Thursdays 15.00pm-17.30pm
  • Fridays 08.30-17.30
  • Saturdays 08.30-13.30

Each week we have Beef, Pork, Lamb and Chicken available in joints, steaks, mince etc and if you have a particular cut you would like, David will be pleased to help!

We offer a large selection for your BBQ including different burgers, sausages and glazes for your chops and meat cuts.

New to our counter we have sliced ham and beef which we cook ourselves and is proving very popular. As well as raw dog food which is made up by our niece !

We are sorry to say that the hot weather brought the strawberry season to a swift end!

As ever feel free to drop us an order at: david@rosegatefarm.co.uk, call 01954230344 or just pop in!

Don’t forget to sign up to our weekly email update which you can find in the top right hand corner of this page.

Update – closed week beginning 13th April

Due to high demand our butchery will be closed this weekend (16th-18th April). Thankfully we are all well but need time to catch up on the farm and the increase in sales in the previous weeks means we have no meat ready to sell this week. We hope to be open as usual with our full range of  meat Thursday 23rd April at 1pm.

Our New Butchery!

The new butchery is now open and running! We have extended our opening times to include Thursdays:

Thursday 13.30-17.30

Friday 8.30-17.30

Saturday 8.30-13.30

Whilst we remain symptom free, we are hoping we can stay open throughout the challenging weeks ahead with the Coronavirus. However, we are now delivering directly to the homes of those who are self-isolating in the surrounding villages. We strongly encourage this to protect our customers and staff and if you have any questions regarding this please contact us.

Please email your orders to david@rosegatefarm.co.uk or call us on 01954230344.

If you do come to the shop please come in one at a time, pay contactless where possible and if able order beforehand so we can serve you as quickly as possible.

The Rosegate Butchery Expansion Project has been part funded by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD) and has enabled us to build a new butchers shop on the farm, replacing our old shop. The new shop is much larger, giving us potential to employ new staff and for our current team to work simultaneously,  allowing us to increase our product range and display whilst improving our efficiency.

October 2019

          Autumn at Rosegate Farm

News from the Farm

Autumn is always a favourite here at Rosegate, cooler temperatures and livestock still out allows us to focus on making final preparations for winter.  It is also time for a few more calves to be born and the rams to go in with the ewes!

Due to the dry weather throughout the end of August and September we have been moving the animals around to find a fresh bite, a particular favourite is the Lucerne which we have been able to put our lambs on:

Rosegate Christmas Order form 2019

Christmas order books are now open.  Our local free-range bronze turkeys are doing well – limited number so please order as soon as you can.  Accompanied, of course,  by our own free-range, dry cured gammons, Hereford beef, homemade sausages/chipolatas etc

Black Pudding has arrived! We are very excited to now be stocking fresh blood black pudding from the “fruit pig company” who harvest at the abattoir we use.

Venison should be returning by the end of October, for more precise dates watch this space or sign up to our email.

As always our own lamb, pork and beef will be available every weekend for the perfect roast or hearty, warming stew!

Spring 2019

Spring arrives at Rosegate Farm…

Look at these beautiful new arrivals at the farm.  We have had a very successful lambing season and the calves are now arriving!  We love this time of year with the animals being returned to the fields after a winter snuggled up comfortably in their shed!

The 2019 strawberry season has already started thanks to the warmer weather we have had in spells early in the year.

The butchery is open every Friday all day and Saturday mornings selling Rosegate Beef, Pork and Lamb.  We all stock Sutton Hoo Free Range Chickens and St George Chickens.

We make our own dry-cured bacon  and gammon (smoked and unsmoked) and a selection of sausages and burgers.  All handmade in our humble butchery! The Swavesey sausage (exclusively made by Rosegate) is derived from a recipe from the village butcher from 100 years ago and remains a firm favourite with our customers.

We look forward to seeing you in the butchery sometime soon!

Christmas Orders

NOW TAKING CHRISTMAS ORDERS!

Its that time when we have to start preparing for Christmas.  As you will appreciate, lots of planning needs doing to ensure we have the meat available for that one day! We do very much appreciate early orders as this helps us gauge early how much meat to have in the butchery. Also curing hams and bacon is a longer process so advance notice is greatly appreciated.

Here is our Christmas Order form.  Please fill out and return to the butchery or email to david@rosegatefarm.co.uk.  We will be selling Turkeys (reared locally), Goose, Chicken, our own beef, pork and lamb, sausages, bacon, gammon, stuffing etc.  Let us know if you want something that doesn’t appear on the order form and we will endeavour to meet your requirements.

Farm & Butchery News 2018

First of all a huge thank you for all your continued support throughout 2017 and a welcome to those of you who have recently found us!  Thanks to you we have enjoyed our best year to date in the butchery and been privileged to be invited to a Buckingham Palace garden party and win ‘Food Producer of the year’ award from Cambridge News.

The farm continues to grow in stock numbers and as demand for the meat increases we are thankful to pick up some extra grazing in the surrounding villages.  With the increasing flocks and herds there is always plenty to do and, although exhausting at times, we remain as passionate as ever about the livestock we care for and the meat we produce for you, our local customers!

It is rewarding to think the meat we produce here at Rosegate in Swavesey can provide food for so many people in the surrounding area.  Also we would remind you that we always welcome feedback of any variety regarding the meat as we strive to find the best mix of genetics and feed to produce the highest quality meat we can.

With the additional livestock we are now in a position to be able to provide beef, pork, lamb and chicken in the butchery most weekends of the year although it will always be in limited quantities.  We would always advise that if you are planning a special meal that you contact us to preorder your meat.
